Hold Me Tight® – A Workshop for Couples

Is it time to improve your relationship and learn to communicate in new ways that increase understanding, closeness and pleasure? The HMT® Workshop can help you achieve that.

Hold Me Tight® was developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, based on the Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love which has been shown to be essential for a successful relationship. In addition to learning about attachment, the workshop will include exercises and conversations between you and your partner and video demonstrations of other couples interacting.

HMT® is a two-day psycho-educational program designed to teach partners how to move away from cycles of conflict, increase emotional responsiveness, forgive old wounds and rekindle desire and affection. The workshop teaches tools to use when partners are inaccessible and in the grip of strong emotion. Partners will learn how to de-escalate negative patterns that disrupt and erode closeness and how to reengage more meaningfully. During the workshop, partners work with each other exclusively.

Join us for this positive, research-based program for all couples who want to strengthen their relationship, including both partners already committed, same-sex couples, LGBT couples, and pre-marital couples who want to learn how to make love last over a lifetime.

About Our Trainers

About Susan Thau, PhD

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and have been in practice for over three decade. I received my BA from UCLA, MA from Cal State Northridge, PhD from California School of Processional Psychology, and PsyD from the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. I further specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Discernment Therapy.

In my individual therapy sessions, I aspire to treat each session as a process of examining what has meaning in life. I create a safe place to explore deeply meaningful personal issues, as well as a collaborative atmosphere which encourages mutual engagement. During my sessions with individuals and couples, I also work from an attachment perspective. I am particularly interested in how stress is manifested in our bodies and work with patients to help them to become more resilient. This includes helping individuals get in touch with their longings and feelings which previously had remained un-worded, embedded in dreams and other private experiences.
